Okonjo-Udochi and Fellow Trailblazers: Recognized Among the Top 100 Outstanding Nigerian




Okonjo-Udochi, a leading figure in healthcare management, policy, and research in America, has been recognized among the "Exemplars: 100 Most Outstanding Nigerians in the Diaspora" for 2023. Her inclusion is attributed to her significant contributions to the field of medicine, bringing pride to Nigeria through her numerous achievements.


Among the notable individuals featured in the compendium are Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, DG of WTO; Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN; Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Assistant Director-General at the WHO; renowned writer Chimamanda Adichie; Wally Adeyemo, US Deputy Secretary of Treasury; and Kemi Badenoch, UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade.


The compendium aims to establish a comprehensive biographical database of outstanding Nigerians in the diaspora, serving as a reference document for government, multilateral agencies, and researchers seeking information on these individuals.


Co-edited by Kammonke Abam, Dr. Badewa Adejugba-Williams, Obasewotta Kammonke, and Koblohobase Kammonke, the compendium will act as a guide for the skills database of Nigerians in the diaspora.





Dr. Okonjo-Udochi, the CEO/President of Summit Medical Group, is also the founder and president of Millennium Health Group PC. She has demonstrated expertise in building high-performance teams, executing strategic plans, and integrating vertical and horizontal services. Additionally, she is recognized as a digital health innovator and consultant, working to provide transformative care for minority populations in collaboration with medical device companies.


A Family Medicine Doctor in Columbia, MD, Dr. Okonjo-Udochi holds an MBBS from the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (1988). She recently inaugurated a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), an advanced health facility in Maryland, US.


Her accolades include being selected as a Top Doctor for 2019 in Baltimore Magazine and winning the Family Physician of the Year 2021 in Maryland, making her the first Black female to receive this prestigious award. The compendium is published annually by Profiles & Biographies, known for producing other notable compilations such as "Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women," "Portraits of Patriots: 100 Foremost Nigeria Thought Leaders," and "Changemakers: 100 Nigerians Leading Change."
